If you are going to replace your fuel pump you can either meet or exceed the manufacturer's requirment for your vehicle needs. Extra fuel that get sent to your engine will get sent back to your gas tank via your fuel return line, which will cool down your engine. So extra fuel will not hurt your engine because any unused fuel will get sent back to the gas tank by your fuel pressure regulatr via the fuel return line.
